Hey everyone!

April 19 marks the 3rd Anniversary since Melanie and the Magic Forest was released! To celebrate, I will be giving the game a major update, which will go live on April 19, 2025.

The Update includes multiple big changes that I’ve wanted for Melanie over the past 3 years:

• A World Map with a Player Tracker that shows general location.
• A Journal that has pages for Quests, Controls for the game, and an Endgame Events checklist. Quests also have checkboxes to indicate if they have been completed or not.
• Kiba can now travel with you! If you pet Kiba, you will unlock the Endgame Event: “Home with Kiba” and the Player sprite will change to include Kiba. He will follow you for the rest of the game!
• New Music! Melanie and the Magic Forest now has original music created by Robot Meadows (@robotmeadows on socials)!
• New font made by me.
• A warning message for the portal in Mushroom Village. Entering the portal ends the game.
• And some smaller changes like cleaned up logic, cutscenes, dialogue, art, etc.

I truly appreciate everyone who took time to play the game, leave a kind comment, record and upload a playthrough, give a review on Itch.io, and even donate to my little Game Boy game.

Melanie and the Magic Forest means so much to me. It’s not only the first game I made as a solo dev, it also features our beloved fur baby, Kiba, who is no longer with us. Kiba passed in July 2024 at 17 years old, showered with kisses and snuggles in the safety of our home and our arms. We miss and love him so much every single day. Seeing your comments about Kiba always makes me smile.
